Can I Get Ear Mites From My Cat?
Ear mite infestation is definitely “contagious” between cats and dogs. It’s spread easily from pet to pet through simple social interaction, so it’s important to check your cat’s ears regularly for mites if they spend time outside or are socializing with other pets indoors. But humans are not generally at risk of getting an ear mite infestation of their own, even if their cat has ear mites.
There have been a few cases of people developing skin rashes from ear mites, but this is extremely rare and unlikely to happen if your cat’s ear mites are treated as soon as they’re discovered.
